Maci Elizabeth Tindall-Scott was given her angel wings on September 8th, 2016, following a horrific incident no child should ever have to endure. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Maci had touched in some way during her short, yet very memorable life.
Maci's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of her existence far exceeded the quantity of time in which she lived. Her gentle smile could melt the hearts of those around her and though she never spoke a word, her voice and thoughts could always be heard.
Despite the way Maci left us, she possessed strength, perseverance, and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With her courage she led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. She could spend hours cuddling close to those she loved so much. She enjoyed music, sleeping late, and reading stories. She loved shoes, but never wore them on her feet...she felt that they served a better purpose being on her hands. She loved the color purple, eating watermelon, taking care of her babydoll, and listening to the sounds of children and especially to laughter which made her smile. Her brother, Jayden, had the uncanny ability to seemingly make Maci's laugh last forever. She spent her time visiting Disney World, going on cruises, and playing with her brother. Her delight at Sea World and zoos showed us she would share the same love for animals that her family did. Being next to her mother was one of the few places she could always sleep peacefully through the night. Even at such a young age she had an incredible passion for life and learning.
With Maci's passing we remind others that her life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss her every day, especially her winning smile, she will forever remain in our hearts. She left us with many wonderful memories and lessons about life. It was a privilege to be her parents. We are so thankful Maci's siblings Jayden, Alyssa, and Hunter met their sister so they can hold dear the memory of Maci's gentle spirit.
Maci leaves behind many wonderful caregivers who provided love and support that enhanced her quality of life. Maci's love extends to her wonderful nurses and staff at East Tennessee Children's Hospital. There is a special place in our hearts for all of those who took such great care of Maci in her final moments. All of these special people, too numerous to mention, provided Maci with love and dignity for her to fly high when she passed.
Maci is survived by her loving parents, Brandi Tindall of Tazewell, TN, and Gareth Scott of Friendship, NY; siblings Jayden Tindall, Alyssa Scott, and Hunter Scott; paternal grandparents Kevin Scott of Belmont, NY, and Anita Stevens of Cherryville, NC; maternal grandparents Janet Tindall of Harker Heights, TX, and Jason Coats of Tazewell, TN; aunts and uncles Kalynn Tindall, Matthew Tindall, Amanda Scott, Dayna Greene, Lisa Calhoun, Kevin Scott Jr., Odessa Scott, Nicole Calhoun, Shane Scott, and Chayse Scott.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 13, 2016 from 4PM until 5PM with funeral services to follow at 5PM in the Claiborne-Overholt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Brown officiating.
