Claiborne - Overholt Funeral Home 1106 Hwy. 33 South New Tazewell, TN 37825 (423) 626 - 2191 Fax (423) 626 - 8440 Mr. Billy Ray Cheek age 71 of Tazewell, TN was born February 3, 1944 and went to be with the Lord on May 6, 2015. He professed faith in Christ at an early age and joined Blairs Creek Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Church Clerk, Superintendent of Sunday school and taught Sunday School. He later joined Duncan's Chapel Baptist Church where he presently taught the young adult Sunday school class. Billy Ray served as Circuit Court Clerk in Claiborne County for 20 years. He also owned and operated B&J Enterprises, a book keeping service. He was preceded in death by his: Wife: Joyce (Chumley) Cheek Mother: Rachel (DeBusk) Smith Brother: Charles Clay Cheek Sister-in-Law: Joyce Ann Cheek He is survived by his: Son: Billy Ray Cheek Jr. and wife Keri of Tazewell, TN Grand Daughter: Kayla Cheek Step Grandchildren: Holly Keck and Ryan Keck of Tazewell, TN Brother: George Cheek of Tazewell, TN Nephew: Doug Cheek and wife Tammy of Tazewell, TN Nieces: Cindy Dunsmore and husband Aaron of Tazewell, TN Brenda Noonan and husband Ken of Imperial Beach, CA Several special nieces, nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 9, 2015 from 4PM until 8PM at the Claiborne-Overholt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, May 10, 2015 at 2PM in the Claiborne-Overholt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Louthan Jr. and the Rev. Travis Pressnell officiating. Music will be provided by Gail Duncan and Trey Louthan. Burial will follow in the Irish Memorial Gardens.
