Gloria J. McPherson

Ms. Gloria J. McPherson age 93 of New Tazewell was born January 16, 1928 and passed away August 20, 2021 at Diversicare of Claiborne. She was a member of the Bingham Town Baptist Church.

Gloria had a heart for animals and saw the need for a shelter to care for homeless dogs and cats in the area. She used her farm and the barns to facilitate their care for over 30 years. She would care for multiple numbers of animals at a time.

She was preceded in death by her:

Parents: Veach and Jerusha McPherson

Daughter: Jerry L. Caputa

Brother: John Ed McPherson

Sisters: Poochie Creech, Dextra Smith, and Billie Whetzel

She is survived by her:

Son: Curtis Peacock

Grand Daughters: Christa Caputa and Sandra Caputa

Brother: Veach McPherson and wife Brenda

Sisters: Donna McPherson Minor and Clara Kay McPherson

Special Niece: Judy Whetzel

And a host of many other nieces, nephews, family, and friends

Special Friends who helped with the animals

Debbie Hyde, Chris Mullins, Tammy Rouse, Susan West, and many others.

Gloria was cremated at her own request and will be remembered for her great love for people and animals.
