Claiborne - Overholt Funeral Home 1106 Hwy. 33 South New Tazewell, TN 37825 (423) 626 - 2191 Fax (423) 626 - 8440 Fax (423) 626 - 8440 Mr. Grover Samuel Bailey age 79 of New Tazewell, TN was born September 10, 1937 and passed away September 20, 2016 at the Physicians Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. He made his public profession of faith while visiting the Dr. Billy Graham Library. He was in manufacturing all of his life and was a member of the Claiborne County Manufacturers Association. Grover enjoyed being a TSSAA basketball official for more than 20 years. He was an avid sports enthusiast especially Dodger baseball and NASCAR. He also loved bluegrass music and crappie fishing on Lake Weiss in Alabama. Most importantly was his love for family. He was preceded in death by his: Parents: Morgan J. "Doc" and Mary (McKay) Bailey Sister: Frances B. Trent and husband William "Sage" Trent Brothers: Wilbur, Jackie Bill and George Bailey Nephews: Colby Winstead and Matthew Southern He is survived by his: Loving wife of 56 years: Jo Ann (Edwards) Bailey Daughters: Sherry and David Norris Shannon and Adrian "Junior" Barnes Sandy and Scott Liford Grandsons: Spencer Thomas Orick Stefan Michael Roy Norris Granddaughter: Shelby Jo Liford Brothers: Lynn and Sue Bailey Dennis and Maria Bailey Emmett and Shannon Bailey Everett and Mary Kay Bailey Sister: Jane and Robert Winstead Several nieces, nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. John Morrison as well as all other physicians and staff of Statcare Pulmonary Consultants of Knoxville, TN. A Celebration of Life will be conducted Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 7PM in the Claiborne-Overholt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Overholt officiating. Music will be provided by David and Stephanie Cole. Obituary and reflections by Robert Winstead. Private graveside services will be conducted in the Bailey Cemetery.
