KECK, HOMER CRAFT- age 89 of Alexandria, Virginia and formerly of Claiborne County, Tennessee, died after an extended illness, August 21, 2011 at My Home Away From Home in Richmond, Virginia. Homer went to Pleasant Point School and graduated from Claiborne County High School in 1941. He was a member of the Virginia Hills Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia. Homer was a 50 year member of the Evening Star Lodge No. 180, New Tazewell, Tennessee. He served in the United States Navy during World War II as an Aviation Machinist Mate First Class. He was a proud American. Homer enjoyed farming and genealogy and was a member of the Owsley Family Historical Society. He worked as an aircraft mechanic for Eastern Airlines in Washington D.C. and retired in 1986. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson Winfield Keck and Laura Gray Keck; and brothers, William Edward Keck and Charles Bryan Keck. Homer is survived by his loving wife, Maxie Brooks Keck; brother, Corum Devine Keck and sister in law, Dora Mae Walker Keck of Kokomo, Indiana; son, Michael Eugene Keck and daughter in law, Joan Setliff Keck of Richmond, Virginia; daughter, Margaret Keck Dickey and son in law, Philip Lane Dickey of Knoxville, Tennessee; granddaughter, Megan Keck Thompson and her husband, Dr. Richard Shaw Thompson of Wilmington North Carolina, granddaughter Amanda Gray Keck Blevins and husband, Daniel Patrick Blevins of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; grandson, Austin Michael Dickey of Knoxville, Tennessee; and great grandsons, Hayden Patrick Blevins and Lawton Gray Blevins of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina and Charlie Michael Thompson of Wilmington, North Carolina ,and friends and neighbors on Spect Court in Alexandria, Virginia. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. The family wishes to thank Bernice and Tammi for their love and care in his final days. The family received friends August 24, 2011 at 6:00 at the Claiborne-Overholt Funeral Home. Homers? nephew, Rick Keck, minister of the Christian Church of Loudon County, officiated at the Graveside Service at Pleasant Point Cemetery August 25, 2011 at 11:00 am. Interment followed at Pleasant Point Cemetery with full military honors presented by the Volunteer State Veterans' Honor Guard. Claiborne ?
