Mr. James "Jim" E. Ogan age 85 of New Tazewell, TN went to his eternal home on February 13, 2017 with his loving family members by his side. Jim was born in Pineville, KY, saved at an early age and was a member and deacon of New Tazewell First Baptist Church. He served as a Sunday School teacher and loved mentoring junior boys. He worked with his father and family in construction, stone and brick masonry. Jim served in the US Army from 1953-1957, a graduate from Lincoln Memorial University class of 1958. He worked at the US Postal Service for 34 years. Jim was a local merchant of Ogan's Jiffy Mart, Deli and car wash for over 16 years working alongside his wife Bertie and son Eddie. They considered all customers as family.

Parents: Rev. Willis and Myrtle (Price) Ogan
Brothers: Sillious Ogan and Frank Ogan
Sisters: Barbara Woodward and Ruth Lee Beeler
He is survived by his:
Loving wife of 58 years: Bertie Lou Ogan
Son: Stephen Eddie Ogan and wife Joyce
Granddaughters: Heather Ogan Rice and husband Aulburn
Holly Ogan Cooper and husband Mark
Special Great Grandson: Jacob LeFevers
Great Grandchildren: Austin Rice, Kameran Large, Eban
Shipley, Randy Rice and Gracie Shipley
Brother: Stephen F. Ogan and wife Thelma
Sister: Willa C. Sanders
Several nieces, nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Richard Clark and Dr. Tom Livesay as attending physicians; Dr. Ross Kerns and staff of Tennessee Cancer Specialists; Dr. Bopanna, radiologist; Amedisys Home Health of New Tazewell; Amedisys Hospice of Morristown, TN; the Claiborne Medical Center ER doctors, staff and EMS. The family would also like to extend a thank you to all of their friends of the family and community.
The family will receive friends Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 5PM until 7PM with funeral services to follow at 7PM in the Claiborne-Overholt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Overholt and the Rev. Larry Sharp officiating. Music will be provided by Dottie Crutchfield and Patricia Tarter.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday, February 17, 2017 at 10AM in the Fairview Cemetery.
