KECK, MAXIE INEZ BROOKS - age 90 of Alexandria, Virginia and formerly of Harrogate, Tennessee, died after an extended illness, on December 26, 2016 at Henrico Doctor's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. Maxie graduated from Powell Valley High School and Lincoln Memorial University. She worked as a teacher and a homemaker. She was a member of the Virginia Hills Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Craft Keck; and parents, Andrew Houston Brooks and Mae Ray Brooks; brothers, Harry Brooks, Eugene Brooks and Earl Brooks, and sister, Ina Brooks. Maxie is survived by her son, Michael Eugene Keck and daughter in law, Joan Setliff Keck of Richmond, Virginia; daughter, Margaret Keck Dickey and son in law, Philip Lane Dickey of Knoxville, Tennessee; sister in law, Dorothy Brooks of Alcoa, Tennessee; granddaughter, Megan Lee Keck Thompson of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, granddaughter Amanda Gray Keck Blevins and husband, Daniel Patrick Blevins of Awendaw, South Carolina; grandson, Austin Michael Dickey of Knoxville, Tennessee; and great grandsons, Hayden Patrick Blevins and Lawton Gray Blevins of Awendaw, South Carolina, great granddaughter, Beaudil Cate Blevins of Awendaw South Carolina and Charlie Michael Thompson of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; and friends and neighbors from Spect Court in Alexandria, Virginia. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. The family wishes to thank Bernice from My Home Away From Home in Richmond, Virginia for the love and care given in her final days.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 30, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Claiborne-Overholt Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jack Walker officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Point Cemetery.
