Polly Marie McCollough

Mrs. Polly Marie McCollough Polly gracefully and peacefully passed away at her home October 27, 2014. She was born to the late Edward J. and Mattie (Jennings) Hardin October 25, 1924. She graduated the valedictorian from Claiborne County High School and received a degree from Knoxville Business College. After graduation she worked for a short time for Hardin Insurance and Claiborne Board of Education for 34 years until her retirement in 1980 as administrative assistant and book keeping. She was an active life time member of Tazewell Methodist Church. She devoted her spirit and love to the church she grew up in serving in many leadership and committee positions, choir director and pianist. Polly enjoyed working as a volunteer of the American Cancer Society for many years. She served the people of New Tazewell as a city council member for 30 years. Polly served on both the Claiborne County Library and Clinch Powell Library Boards. She was an active charter member of the Wegadigun Club. She served on the board of Directors of First Century Bank for numerous years following in the footsteps of her father E.J. Hardin. She was preceded in death by her: Husband: Glen McCollough Sr. Brother: Ed Hardin III. She is survived by her sons: Sam McCollough (Libbie) Glen McCollough Jr. (Amy) Granddaughter Marianne Fultz (Steve) Great Granddaughter Madelynn Fultz Brother: Hugh Hardin Sister-in-Law:Mary Beth Lewis and husband Pat all of Tazewell, TN Several nieces, nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends. A special thank you to her lifelong friend Rosa Dyke and her faithful caregivers. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 11AM until 1PM with funeral services to follow at 1PM in the Claiborne-Overholt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roger Hansard and the Rev. Eddie Overholt officiating. Music will be provided by Janice Derreberry and Jimmy Bryant. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
