Reva J. Golden

Mrs. Reva J. Golden, beloved Christian wife and mother of New Tazewell, Tn., passed away in her sleep into the arms of our Lord and Savior on June 6, 2017 at the age of 86 years young. Reva was born on August 12, 1931 in Tazewell, Tn, and was married to Billey W. Golden Sr., on June 10, 1950 at the Tazewell Methodist Church parsonage. Reva was a member of Mayes Chapel United Methodist Church in Lonesome Valley. Reva was very active in the activities of her church. She loved helping the church with plays, church functions, and homecomings. She loved listening to Gospel music, hymns and singing praises to God. Reva was the author of an autobiography entitled, "Take Up Thy Cross Daily" in 1982. Reva was preceded in death by her father, Lee Alston, of Tazewell, TN., her mother, Della Mae Drummonds Alston, a brother, Joes Steve Alston of Morristown, Tn., a brother Alfred Alston of Monroe, Michigan and a granddaughter, Casey Pannocchia of New Tazewell, Tn. Reva is survived by her, husband Bill Golden, Sr., of New Tazewell, Tn., son, Bill Golden Jr., and family of Knoxville, Tn., daughter, Leila Lee and family of Bulls Gap, Tn., daughter Deborah Golden of New Tazewell, Tn., daughter, Juanita Pannocchia and family of New Tazewell, Tn., daughter, Mary Jenkins and family of New Tazewell, Tn., 13 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Brother, Jessie Alston and family of Seymour, Tn., brother, David Alston and family of Monroe, Michigan. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 8, 2017 from5PM until 7PM with funeral services to follow at 7PM in the Claiborne-Overholt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Fox of Mayes Methodist Church officiating. Music will be provided by Dewey Lee & Sons Graveside services will be conducted Friday, June 9, 2017 at 10AM in the Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers: Tim Lee, Ben Lee, Steven Jenkins, Tyler Jenkins, Jim Murphy and Lynn Poore Claiborne-Overholt Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.
