Loren Reece (74) of Tazwell, TN formerly of Bloomington, IL passed away Sunday, May 1st, 2022, in his home in the company of his wife, Becky, of 43 years. After graduating high school from Normal Community, Loren committed to the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. Where he proudly served from 1966-1970, he was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant. Loren then followed in his mothers’ footsteps and started his career in law enforcement as a McLean County Sheriffs Deputy. After a short career as a Sheriff’s Deputy, Loren joined his brother’s and became an electrician as a member of the IBEW Local #197 Bloomington, IL like their father, Harold. He was especially proud of serving in the Air Force and enjoyed spending his time with other Veterans at the VFW post 454. He proudly volunteered with the Honor Guard from VFW Post 454 and attended countless funerals and special events until his health would no longer allow.
Loren loved his family over all else and always put them as his priority. Surviving is his wife Becky Reece (Tazwell, Tennessee); his son Treavor Reece (Tazwell, Tennessee); and two daughters Tia Reece (Bloomington, Illinois); and Toni Young (Farmer City, Illinois). His grandchildren Abigail, Alexis, Tiernan, Lauren Grace, Ayden, and Andrue knew their Papa Loren by his smile and joking disposition. He will be missed terribly, but comfort is found knowing he is reunited with mother, Juanita Reece in Heaven.
Also surviving are brothers Larry (Teri) Reece, Lance (Patricia) Reece, and Linda Tarvin. Visitation will be held on May 6th, 2022, at 1:00 PM in the afternoon at Claiborne-Overholt Funeral Home in New Tazwell, TN. A grave side service will immediately follow the visitation, and Loren will be laid to rest at Irish Memorial Gardens in Tazwell, TN. Officiating the service will be Pastor Larry Sharp. The family requests condolences to be made on-line at ClaiborneFuneralHome.com. A Celebration of Life will be held in Bloomington, Illinois. This will be determined at a future date for family and friends who reside in and around his hometown. Memorials can be made at the Celebration of Life in Loren’s name or by mail to VFW Post 454, 1006 E. Lincoln Street, Bloomington, IL 61701.
