Rev. Robert E. Simmons

Rev. Robert E. Simmons age 79 of New Tazewell was born September 27, 1943 and went to be with the Lord March 15, 2023. He loved the Lord, his family, and his church. Robert was a lifelong minister and pastored several churches during his ministry. Robert was a graduate of Clear Creek Baptist Bible College. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. He enjoyed helping young ministers getting started in the ministry.  Robert announced his calling to preach at the age of 28.

He was preceded in death by his:

Parents: Rev. Callie Virgil Simmons and Geneva (Watson) Simmons

Brothers: Carl Lennis Simmons, Rev. William E. Simmons, C.V. Simmons Jr., and David Simmons

Sisters: Marjorie Brown, Mourine Keck, Alice Johnson, and Virginia Wyatt

His is survived by his:

Loving wife of 60 Years: Eula Simmons

Sons: Roy Simmons and Rachel, Ronnie Simmons, Robert C. Simmons and Cindy.  

Daughters: Melissa Collier and Terry

7 Grandchildren: Justin Simmons (Hannah), Kaetlyn Sevier, Cassie Cox (Aubry),

Kamden Lee, Rodney Smith (Jessica), Ethan Simmons, and Emma Simmons

7 Great Grandchildren

Sisters: Alma Harmon, and Delores Swiney

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 18, 2023 From 11AM until 1PM with funeral services to follow at 1 PM in the Claiborne – Overholt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Day and Rev. Robert Minton officiating. Music will be provided by the Dunsmore Brothers

Graveside services will follow Saturday, March 18, 2023 in the Irish Memorial Gardens
